A very special rabbit has come to Loyalton to live. Mrs.
Rabbit now calls Mrs. Nunes' class at Loyalton Junior High School her new home.
Sometimes we meet a few select people in life whose inner beauty is captivating and filled with kindness. Mrs. Rabbit is one of those people disguised in a rabbit coat. Her beauty is not exhibited in her loud, flashy colors. Mrs. Rabbit is light brown with a sparse splash of white. Her beauty is in her doe-like eyes. Those of us who are animal lovers know firsthand that pets are
entertaining, humorous, educational (they teach responsibility), and provide unconditional
love. There is also medical research that connects improved health and blood pressure to
owning a pet. In other words our physical and psychological contributions to caring for
animals can result in special calming and healing paybacks.
Dr. Abdul, Principal, of Loyalton Junior High School expressed an interest in obtaining a school pet for the purpose of sharing all of the above-mentioned qualities with his students. MCAH (Maternal, Child, Adolescent Health Advisory Board) Chairperson, Vickee Greer, was able to coordinate the donation of Mrs. Rabbit (previously a resident of Reno) to the school. The MCAH Board is involved with both young people and animals through its "Campaign Against Violence." This "dog and rabbit" show will be headed to Sierra County schools throughout the year.
Welcome to Loyalton, Mrs. Rabbit. We are glad you are here. #### For more information regarding the MCAH Council (Maternal Child and
Adolescent Health) and their "Campaign Against
Violence", please contact Vickee Greer at the Sierra County Health Department at
